Prescription Stimulants: used for treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), narcolepsy, and in certain cases obesity, depression, or asthma. One of the most popular prescription stimulants is amphetamine (Adderall or Ritalin) for their ability to increase alertness and attention, suppress appetite, and increase energy.
Effects:
- Dangerously raised body temperature
- Irregular heartbeat because of increased blood pressure and heart rate
- Narrow blood vessels
- A higher risk of heart failure and seizures
- When mixed with alcohol, the depressant effect of alcohol can increase the risk of alcohol overdose
